Treeless Forest is the "nom de disque" of solo artist Tom Bonilla, all the way from Buenos Aires. When you think about South America, and more specifically, Argentina, the kind of music and mental landscapes that you associate to it is completely different from what this singer songwriter offers, delivering a sound that you could definitely find up north: Treeless forest is essentially a singer / songwriter, but there are contamination's of "cold electronics" and edgy sound, not unlike bands such as Mew, Kent or Kashmir, just to name a few artist of the Scandinavian scene who's sound are quite close to Treeless Forest, just to give you an idea of what to expect. Unlike the Scandinavian "counterparts" mentioned above, Tom Bonilla fills his work with a more melancholic and minimalistic approach, mixing the bare feel and simple attitude of American folk with loop-based melodies and ideas borrowed from alternative rock and electronica in equal doses.

The interesting thing about the album "Through the river, through the noise" (besides the sounds) is the fact that it is sort of a concept work that incorporates many different musical genres and cultural ideas, from indie rock to latin rhythmic patterns and alt folk.  A bridge between South American traditions (with all the mysticism they carry) and modern, western oriented sound with an eclectic twist to it.
