I have to admire Tim Hamm even if I didn’t like his music (which I do). Hamm had a long career in business and then decided to follow his passion of creating and performing original music. Now this would be a damn shame if Hamm had no talent and I'm sure if he has a partner that they would politely and maybe not so politely have asked him to reevaluate his decision.

Hamm’s music seems to be most influenced by ‘70s rock bands. Think Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers. You could describe his music as soft rock or even pop but no matter how you categorize it Hamm isn’t about thrills and whistles. He cherishes the writing and the song itself. The songs on his album Never Too Late combine catchy vocal melodies with an organic instrumentation such as drums, guitars, bass and the occasional piano and even mandolin.

He kicks things off with “Never Too Late,” which talks about a ubiquitous subject that everyone can relate to. His voice is smooth, warm and dare I say non-threatening. When the chorus pops it’s pretty catchy. He sings, “It’s never too late, to start mendin’ fences. Droppin' old pretenses, lowering defenses. It’s never too late, to choose love over hate. “

“Get Up and Dance” is the most rocking song on the album, which isn’t much. The song is a bit hokey but easy to embrace and enjoy. I did enjoy the background vocalist on this one. Nice Touch. “We are an Ocean” is a nostalgic song with poetic lyrics while “Warriors of the Flame” isn’t quite as hardcore as it sounds.

An overall well written song and highlight of the album is “The Kindness Of Others.” I found the song to be optimistic and hopeful while not seeming contrived. It reminded me of a song you might hear from the ‘60s band The Byrds.”

Not every song does it for me on this album but a majority of them do. Hamm is a talented songwriter who put together a very solid album.
