Based out of Southern California Tiegan is a solo performer who has been playing guitar for about ten years, singing for her whole life and only recently recording. She released a delightful three-song EP called Friendly. It’s jazzy, extremely intimate- sounding and showcases a gorgeous voice. At the moment she records herself and it sounds better than a lot of other DIY material out there. Her voice sounds clear and well placed in the mix and she does a solid job of placing just the right amount of reverb on her lead vocals and harmonies. 

The EP opens with a catchy, honest tune called “Still Here.” Her lyrics are original and escape any sophomoric tendencies. She sings “Water seems to fall in all the wrong places and take away the thirst of all the other faces / It's getting pretty hot, and I'm all out of air / Give you all I've got and I'm still here” over a lightly strummed guitar. The best part of the song is the way she uses her voice. She blends vocal harmonies with precision giving adding depth and dimension when appropriate. 

The second song “Unravel” feels even softer than the first. It’s no doubt a beautiful song as her song vocals rise with little effort and sometimes reminded me of Julianna Barwick when she slapped on the reverb. My favorite song of the three was the last one called “Instead.” As expected Tiegan’s vocals didn't disappoint but the music reached a bit further than on the previous songs. The guitar arrangements made a lush, spacious pad of warmth that fit her voice perfectly. The light picking of the strings and the melody were like a lullaby upon a cloud.

How could you not be impressed by Tiegan? She’s a good songwriter who pours her heart into it and records herself.
