At first glance, this band is impressive. The graphics and imagery they convey for their sound is wet with color and allure. They have a fantastic style and hit the ears like Muse meets Coldplay. The Tryptics are based out of Brooklyn, NY and combine synthetic and organic rhythms with a dynamic fusion of rock and electronica, vocal melancholy, entrancing moods, complete with a revolutionary message. The albums sounds like a revamped and more successful Zooropa. It’s contemporary dance music that applies itself to more than just a dance floor. Much respect goes out to The Tryptics because I think they’re nailing it. It’s not too abrasive a la Sleigh Bells or too sugar-infused a la MNDR. It’s just right.

After the tame response to their first EP and a two-year hiatus, singer/songwriter Charles Preston and drummer/producer Daniel Imana reunited with a more focused sound and directed voice toward the new vision of the current population. According to The Tryptics, humans hold a vision imbued with truth and realization that the control systems we have all but given complete power to are just false prophets and corrupt. We ultimately have the power to take back our lives and that is what Awakening is all about; a call to action.

“Escape Infinity” is like a riveting sonic experience. It has a great keyboard pulse and driving rhythm. There’s an epic quality to the progressions that makes you want to get up and bust a move in the name of humanity. It inspires you to think critically and really appreciate your surroundings. At least that’s the vibe I get from this churning source of electricity. “Right Now” just feels too good. Bumping beat, fuzzed pads, and that voice. Preston croons out like a drawling Bono. It’s a gentle nudge of positivity and really hits home on this tip. Take to the open road and blast that chorus to the skies. You’ll thank me later.
