Stereo Empire is a relatively new band and they hail from Louisville, Kentucky. The five-piece band emits a sound that is unlike their southern roots, but more so rooted in disco-pop rock with an indie edge to it. What’s unique about this band is their sound and there seems to be a number of different styles influencing their musical path. The song “The Seventies” is quite descriptive in itself. I imagine this song played at a prom during that era and people clad in vintage dresses dancing away with their partner to this tune. It really has a romantic persona and every time the vocalist’s voice reaches that sweet peak, I am just spiked with love and passion and I feel as though I just want to throw my head back and dance about aimlessly to this track. The next track, “What You Want,” starts off with a cool whirring keyboard effect and the reverberation of the guitar lets us know this is another passion-filled production. Soon the guitars come in to fill the song, and as we hear, this song is definitely about love and perhaps more-so lust; “I want you to take my body and do what you want with me.” The song with the same title as the EP, “The Moves,” shares a unique dynamic with its listeners, a bit of disco and some pop rock. “You’ll dance like your life depends on the moves you’re making, shake your body take your mind,” this track is really anchored by the lyrics within the song; it is also a dancing one. Stereo Empire has created a collection of songs that are inspiring and at the end of the day beg you to move. The songs are deep yet they uphold a light and dance-y persona; there is disco laden deep within the veins of these tracks. The quality of sound production is notable and thus this band has created quite a successful release with a collection of very unique-sounding tracks on The Moves. Become A Fan
