Sean Peden is a producer based out of Lacey, Wa, and he strives to think, create and sound outside of the box. looking at all kinds of music with an open mind and seeing an opportunity in each instrument, sample or sound that he might stumble upon. His latest EP is entitled "I am falling for you", and it features 4 tracks that sound somewhere in between the dark, trip hop vibes of Massive Attack and the organic approach of Radiohead (think In Raibow era), incorporating elements from sources as diverse as drone, ambient, club, garage, glitch and alternative rock. Despite the vast array of influences, one thing that all of these songs share is definitely a knack for progressive, exciting and unpredictable rhythmic developments - offering an incredible variety to the work. Melodically, the record is quite dark, but more of a moody, chill darkness, rather than an anxiety-driven, melancholic or depressed obscurity - This sort of goes back to me linking Sean's work with Massive Attack, as I mentioned above. Here and there, you can even hear some dub-step bleeding in, bringing the songs to a more upbeat and colorful dimensions. This is clever music, but the instinct underneath the brains plays still a really big role.
