Richard Neale has been making electronic music for over a decade and it shows in his latest effort ENDS that he has accumulated an understanding of how to manipulate sounds and create other worldly textures that are as unique as they are interpretive. Similar to Oneohtrix Point Nevers earlier material the music displays a continuous landscape that evolves and develops right before your ears.

The sounds drift around, never pointing to anything grandiose, but just behaving as sounds that seem to be perfectly fine existing in time and space. This album is unique in that Neale is able to offer the listener the chance to decide whether or not to attach emotion to it. John Cage once said “Let sounds be themselves rather than vehicles for man-made theories or expression of human sentiments.” The songs on this album made me think of this quote because of they let somewhat disparate sounds co-exist with each other. There are four songs on this album and every single one is great. They are distinct yet share the same foundation. Enough said – This is something you should listen to without any hesitation.
