Hailing from Seattle, Plateau is a an old school pop-rock band that delivers a really basic, bullet-proof formula - not unlike bands such as The Replacements, Big Star or The Heartbreakers - obviously blinking an eye to 90s Brit pop (needless to mention Oasis, The Las) and to the British invasion - The Beatles and The Kinks most of all ."Everything was Sweet" is the name of Plateu's 2013 5-songs EP – and it is quite a great fit for a title, underlining the nostalgic feel of the songs. When the music starts, the band pushes on the accelerator, with opening track "Everything was sweet", where the band explore their more "American" side, followed by Sam Ride, which brings the sound coordinates to the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. This is a song that wouldn't feel out of place in any of Oasis's earlier albums - even in terms of sound production. with overdriven guitars and tambourines boosting the chorus. The EP slows down in the middle with the Kinks-esque pop ballad "This summer day", a nostalgic, but fresh 60s pop anthem. "Del Mar" portrays a band that is not all square rhythm patterns and Brit pop references, but gives away a more experimental side, still keeping it simple and immediate. Closing number In My Eye almost feels like an electrified Dylan number, with harmonica hooks and simple chord progression, albeit with a really energetic and up-tempo feel. Plateau didn't come up with anything revolutionary, but this band definitely knows how to keep the fire alive and represent the music they love, giving it a new twist with their own personality!

they sound like a cross between solo George Harrison and a gritty garage rock band - I love it!
