Post-Rock is a genre that has slowly found its well-deserved place under the spotlight on the alternative music scene, winning over fans with powerful, dramatic and simply beautiful melodies. The only side effect of this sudden boom in popularity has been the enormous amount of bands that decided to jump on the post-rock train, recurring too often to the same set of tricks. However, there´s still quite a lot of room for the genre to develop even further, and some artists are really keen on adding a brand new page to the book. Mountains on Fire is definitely one of these artists, striving to deliver a dramatic, cinematic blend of instrumental post-rock (think Explosions in The Sky, This Will Destroy You, Maserati…)  yet managing to find a very personal voice by way of electronic contaminations, including interesting lo-fi electro sounds that offer really peculiar textures to this music.

Mountains on Fire´s latest album ”Wake” is a perfect snapshot of the way this project managed to create a very unique sonic landscape by way of the interesting contrast between the classic, delayed and reverb-heavy post-rock guitar sound and lots of synths, drum machines and other electronic elements. The 14 songs featured on the album are melancholic, dark and beautiful. A great record to listen to on headphones, during a train or buss ride as the landscape rolls by.
