LTR is an 18-year-old Chillstep and Ambient producer who recently released a four song EP entitled Lost In Color, which hints at only a bright future in music production. Lost in Color is a dreamlike voyage that is meditative, yet not overly nostalgic. Warms synths and complex rhythms pollinate the EP creating a fuzzy feeling in your heart that could definitely calm someone down who is tweaking out. The production doesn’t try to fit too many elements in, instead vies to be rather minimal and emphasizes the sounds to create something larger than the sum of its parts. The album starts things off with “Preliminary Thought” (featuring Little Rain), which starts out with a spoken word sample before the warm synths and subdued electronic drums create a fuzzy dreamlike ambience that slowly moves itself across the soundscape. “Lost in Color” while a little more varied is still very chill and a good tune to sit back and relax to on a Sunday afternoon. The track eventually adds some momentum but just enough to keep you engaged but not start dancing. The EP closes with “Transient Oblivion” which, as its predecessors, is based in Chillwave. This song seems to trudge forward a bit more rather than seem fine sitting in a dream. The EP is impressive and showcases that LTR has a solid understanding of what sounds create emotional landscapes within Chillstep.
