Leena Rhodes is the Chicago singer / songwriter behind electro / indie-pop act Little Lungs. Her songs are characterized by sparse, minimal and naked arrangements based on electronics and electric guitar, almost making me think about a cross-breed between Portishead and UK´s latest revelation Daughter. Despite the naked, minimal feel, the songs featured on the album "Rebuild" sound haunting and embracing, with a carpet of ethereal atmospheric effects laying all over the place, topped by soothing and warm vocals, as Leena sings her heart out, exploring themes such as relationships, doubts and self-reflection. This is definitely something for you if you enjoy the contrast created by electronic elements blending with classic rock tools (guitars, vocals with a retro twist…). Little Lungs manages to capture the mesmerizing sonic textures of artists such as Massive Attack, Portishead or Beach House, and bring it all to a more intimate and personal level, not unlike singer-songwriters such as Elliott Smith, Daughter, Sparklehorse (at least the more mellow stuff, as heard on "It´s a wonderful life").
