“Here I Am And This Is Now” is the seventh single from MikeTV aka Go Set Go. It’s the most beautiful and meditative song thus far that I’ve heard from his upcoming album.
The song starts with gentle strings, distant bells, piano and a distant voice saying “Breath In /Breath Out.” It’s very warm, comforting and borderline religious sounding. I’ve always loved his vocals but they sound so good wrapped in melancholy. The song is so strikingly honest you just can’t deny the emotion. MIkeTV reflects on the present moment by singing “Here I Am And This Is Now.” As the lyrics progress he makes a declaration about this sense of melancholy as well as the songs he writes and the emotion it may or may not capture. It’s an ironic self-reflecting mirror as if the very song he sings lays bare his thoughts. The chorus is about doubt and some of the genius here is the ambiguity. It can pertain to a person's future, their job, their romantic partner or the very moment they seem to be stuck in. The second verse considers a person dreams and when is the time to push and when is the time to go a different route. This song choked me up. It avoids the saccharine and melodramatic qualities that sometimes get embedded within melancholy and reflection. The difference is often in the nuance which in this case has been combed over with great care. It’s such a striking title that is a self evident truth. In a world where we sift through so many things that feel false a sentiment such as “Here I Am And This Is Now” will always ring true.

This has to be one of the best songs I've heard, and I have ears that travel through this diverse world of sounds, which means I have heard a lot of songs. The visceral feelings that MikeTV conveys in this song touch me in the worn places of my soul and make them feel known.

I love that this song isn't like everything else out there right now.

The first time I heard this song, it hit me harder than I expected. Complicated nuanced lyrics have their value, but they lack the immediate emotional gravitas kick to the gut of a chorus that simply admits, "I don't know what to do with my life / I don't know what to do with my life / I don't know what to do with my life / ..."

Some of the deepest art to ever touch my life. May all that find this song find a piece of themselves in the music. Thanks for sharing and thanks to mike for barring his soul.

“Here I Am And This Is Now” is probably one of my favourite songs of all the singles. It’s hard to explain, but this song really captures and visualises those moments in life when you’re just there with yourself, stuck with all your fears, your worries - you’re right there with them in contemplation, but still don’t know what to do.

I have definitely been there before, when nothing is working at all and it gets to the point where your dreams become poison. What mattered to you most has failed you so much and now you have no idea what to do. You pretty much lose faith in everything. It is not at all fun being there but it’s not impossible to get out of it.

I've often thought that Get Set Go's music feels like it's written about my own life, and I've met enough people that seem to feel similarly that I believe there's something universal about it. I think this song in particular resonates with a lot of people, because we've all felt that almost cosmic uncertainty that sometimes leads to panic, sometimes to depression, but always causes some kind of doubt in ourselves. And knowing that others feel the same means we're not alone, and that's a powerful antidote to such feelings. The beauty of the music makes these feelings resonate all the more. It's okay to feel such melancholy and uncertainty; we need it to be able recognize when things are better.

That's all so true, especially the last part about being able to recognize it when thing are better. We are so bad at that(humans in general). Its like when I'm sick...'I can't wait till I feel better', but so incredibly rarely do I actually reflect on how awesome I feel when I'm fine again. That is such a good reminder. Thank you.

Mike has a unique way of conveying the reality we all feel and understand but can't put into words. The often stark and direct lyrics of his music may not resonate with a lot of people, but to those of us who 'get it', it is pure lyrical gold.

MikeTV might be best known for his ear worms, or his dark lyrics juxtaposed with upbeat melodies.
