For 15 years, Dynomite Broad gained their band credentials by playing and recording music. Based in Windsor, ON, the band consists of Dave Head (drums), Shawn Walstedt (guitar), Dennis Fox (vocals), Nathan Walstedt (guitar) and Bryan Fry (bass). Dynomite Broad’s self-titled album Dynomite Broad, like a typical rock album, relies heavily on guitar riffs. But don’t mistake it for one that lacks variety, substance and soul. Dynomite Broad, while zigging in and out of different styles and decades of rock music, incorporates other genres like hip-hop, jazz, instrumental and acoustic music. Each track on it works as a stand-alone entity or a point in an intricate musical story. Dynomite Broad uses hip-hop on tracks like “Light it up” and “Baby Girl” to assist in developing their grooving nature. “I Wish I Was Dead” highlights more organic sounds, which gives listeners the most dynamic rhythmic experience from the album. A complex relationship and a catchy chorus dominate the track “Candyman.” “Hank,” “Rock N’Roll Muslim” and “The Penguin” all showcase the band’s instrumental talent. “Hank” takes on a soliloquy atmosphere, where an unknown person or character discloses their cherished secrets. It has a Latin-tango style, and it’s one of Dynomite Broad’s few tender, quiet moments. “Rock N'Roll Muslim” employs a couple consistent sounds with the under layered noises and beats, such as knives clicking, hissing, triangles and tribal drums. Dynomite Broad developed an eclectic array of sounds, beats, genres and stories with their self-titled album. Their album creates an experience both fun and intriguing to explore. Dynomite Broad can be sexual, thought provoking, harsh and serene from one track to another, which keeps listeners hooked for more.
