Alex Tsiridis and Hüseyin Evirgren better known as Cassegrain are one of the sought out underground electronic musicians who create the most cutting edge on the cusp of what is relevant techno music available. Their latest release Tiamat is as Die Antwoord would say “next level” type techno. The music here is captivating for the club and will no doubt bring hordes of people to the floor. The come down is just as good as these are also the types of songs that the DJ will be spinning at 4:30 in the morning as the dawn of the new day’s presence peeks its head. The songs can put you in a trance as they unwind with some elements you will recognize and others that will hit you in the side of the head or will rather lightly tap you and realize what you have been missing. “Taiga” is a good start as the only thing that keeps the club kids moving is the subdued kick drum as electronics shimmer and glisten in the distance. The hypnotic and often scary atmosphere is delivered through ill-placed effects and distant synths that create a post-apocalyptic landscape that forces you to dance cause there is nothing else you can do. The absolutely brilliant “Joule” has some wicked synth bass and picks thing up a bit. However don’t be fooled. You aren’t going to the land of the shiny happy people. Instead you will be venturing to the underworld where the alleys are filled with grime and decay. All of these songs are good. If you are looking for innovative, original, dark techno look no further because Cassegrain is here.
