Founded in 2007 by Neil Andrews, Case In Point is an alternative/metal act not unlike that of bands such as Breaking Benjamin, Avenged Sevenfold, Disturbed and Black Veil Brides. The six songs on his EP The Taste Of Misery are full of distorted guitars with an ample amount of high end, intense drums with machine gun like snare work and double bass drums and as well as vocal work that sounds inspired by hair bands from the 80’s to modern metal bands.

The two components that jumped out to me right away was the drum and guitar work. I'm still not really sure if the drumming was humanly possible but I'm going to take a leap of faith here. The songs themselves are what you might expect from the genre. They reek with the essence of something a meathead might be listening to while working out or a song a UFC fighter might put on before his training session. Either way you look at it these songs can get you pumped with adrenaline and should not be combined with any Red Bull and vodka.

The EP starts with a high octane number called “So Be It” that has a sludge metal 80’s vibe that combines with a more contemporary metal sound. At some points the song gets ridiculously heavy and then he takes it down about 10 notches. At around the 3:00 minute mark he unleashes a blood curdling scream and double bass drum only to be replaced by a much more subdued chorus a couple of seconds later. “The Taste Of Misery” is a heavy song the sounded like a combination of Slipknot and “One” by Metallica. The guitar work is pretty sick and varied throughout. The most intense moment comes a little after when the drums double their bpm and segues into a vicious guitar solo.

This EP is pretty straightforward and doesn't fool much around much. Andrews produces heavy music that doesn't take much of a breather. If you are looking to get your fix of music that will make your face melt than you might want to give this a spin.
