One of humanity’s greatest assets is music; it is meant to take effect on the listener by inducing relaxation, and aiding discovery, exploration or inspiration. Music can never be matched by how it makes the listener feel. The EP titled Aliens by Bring Prudence, or solo artist Oleh Zaychenko, is one that enables the listener to travel to an extraterrestrial landscape that is filled with wonder and feelings of love. The music that makes up Aliens has somewhat of a vintage sound to it, but it maintains a contemporary feel. The sound can be compared to older bands like Depeche Mode and newer ones like Young Empires, Postal Service and Beach House. The second track on the album that shares the same title starts off with a very mellow and somewhat 80’s prom-like tone, you know, the slow-dance song. Then the magical ticking of a glittery beat helps build the song as it progresses. The addition of a horn-like effect makes the song epic, the lyrics “It’s hard to love in the summer, but it’s easy to love in the fall,” repeat as the song fades away. The next song "Don’t Break My Heart" immediately starts off with the lyrics “After oranges and coffee, I went looking for a sign,” and then the metaphorical line “pack your bags we’re going nowhere” adds a poetic inquiry for the listener. The anchoring chorus “don’t break my heart” repeats to solidify the meaning of the song. The artist that is Bring Prudence entwines the listener with a trippy, spacey collection of songs that are based off of the feelings created by your heaviest crush; the feelings of goodness and feelings of loneliness and entrapment. The lyrics are simple yet creative and effective. The album is also well produced for being made in a home studio. Here the artist showcases his talents for creating emotionally subjective music.
