Since 2006 Bleed Radio Bleed has been combining rock, punk and Latin American music. I would describe their sound but they do it themselves so well. “The band sounds like what would happen if members of post-hardcore and Bolivian metal bands got together and invited the long time front man of an indie-pop group to paste the melodies and lyrics from his aborted country solo album over their noisy pop songs.” That being said the songs are not as much as a head scratch as you would think. A lot of the songs in their latest album entitled Static and Sketches are solid songs that contain distorted guitars, infectious lyrics and good overall songwriting. This album is stripped compared to their last album White Horse/Black Horse. Gone are the acoustic guitars and keyboards that created a faster sounding record.

The six-song EP is short with no song running over four minutes. The songs are solid and deliver a good amount of experimentation with classic song writing and crunchy guitars. There isn’t a ballad among the bunch as most of the songs kick in with the full band and rarely have much of a breakdown or lull in the music. While most of the songs had the same formula “Lyle Gun” and “Forest Green” were my favorites. It seems as if the band has really perfected their formula and delivered a solid bunch of songs on their latest album.
