Alamo Black is a courageous one-man project from Nathan, a man from Nashville, Tennessee. After realizing his true and varied musical talents, he broke free from the troubles of dealing with the makings of a band and slowly started seeing personal progression through song writing and producing. Before long, both Alamo Black and the Story Weather EP came to be. The style of music found within this EP could be classified as pop-punk rock that has a unique southern twang to it. The first track on the album, titled “Come What May,” is a very layered song and takes the listener through a long and delightful journey through rock and soul, as well as pop rock at times. It begins with a deep and driving guitar chord that soon morphs into a slow and charismatic contemplation with lyrics like, “come you waves, and wash the spirit clean, ooo come what may, and don’t delay.” Then before you know it, we dive deep again into some dark and twisted valley of pure rock glory. The song with the same title as the album begins with a strong melody that is quite harsh and stormy yet uplifting and exciting at the same time. Lyrics are flooded with metaphors of storms; “let’s enjoy our time together, we will wade this stormy weather out.” This song has a bit of a pop persona and there is much attention paid to songwriting and mixing in this particular track, it is well put-together while maintaining pleasant variety and unconformity. The music on Story Weather is ironically clear and the album carries a variation of sound that anyone into rock will greatly enjoy. Every song is quite exciting to listen to as there is no true mold that fits this music, making this album a successful solo release for this new-found solo musician.
