Major Moment Interview
Q: Can you talk about your musical history? In particular In how you met because of the members come from different countries?
A: Sure, all of us have been involved in music making activities in the past, one way or another. Andrey, for example, started at a very early age, sang in a choir, in a kids pop band, attended music school, etc. Adam graduated from UMass Lowell, has a degree in music business, played with countless acts, recorded and performed all over the country, with some international gigs as well.
Andrey and Sasha are actually both from Russia, but grew up in different cities. They've met in Boston, when Sasha came as a tourist with the friend that Andrey knew through an online Linkin Park fan-club. It is pretty crazy how things unfolded, as not only they sing in the same band now (something that Andrey swore wouldn't happen, as there were plenty of cases in history when having a relative or a friend in the band would destroy it), but are also married.
Adam was referred to Major Moment by a good friend of his, whose ad Andrey found through Craigslist. In 2018 many things happen through online connections. Major Moment is no exception: virtually everything that happened to the band so far involved connecting with different people online.
Q: What are some of the themes and topics you explore on your release "one small step"?
A: - finding yourself, your purpose in this world;
- living in today's world and the toll it takes on mental health;
- depression, death, loss, grief;
- love and relationship;
We think those are pretty universal and are very important topics in today's world.
Q: Can you talk about the songwriting process?
A: So far it would start with Andrey working on a rough demo, bringing it to the studio when he feels it's the right candidate, and everyone contributes to turn it into what will become a finished song. Some songs require very little work, some go through serious changes. We may try a different songwriting approach in the future where members would collaborate on the song from day one.

Q: It seems like Chester Bennington was a major inspiration. How is he related to the album?
A: He is not directly related to our album (unfortunately), though the EP is dedicated to him and has a "#MakeChesterProud" tagline on the artwork. Chester was a big deal of an inspiration for Andrey and Sasha, they basically met because of their mutual love to Linkin Park. As sad as it sounds, Chester's death served as a catalyst, a wake up call to Andrey, and that's when he decided to pursue music as a full-time career.
We released our tribute cover song for “Leave Out All The Rest” on July 20th 2018, and have received a ton of positive response from the LP fan community, and even from Chester’s family members and his bandmates. That inspired us to work on a music video for the same tribute, and we finally have it ready to be released in January. The video was produced and filmed by the Grammy-nominated “Project 2 Studio”, and is set to further spread messages of mental health awareness, and to support a "320 Changes Direction" fund, organized by Chester's wife, Talinda.
Q: Can you talk about your time in the studio?
A: Working with Kevin Billingslea at the Halo Studio just outside of Portland, ME was a truly magical experience, and everything any musician could wish for. The environment was super-friendly and inspirational, the studio is equipped with state of the art technology and the interior has such a nice warm vibe, it felt like home from day one. Somewhere around the half-way mark, it became apparent that we will be coming back to the Halo Studio very soon. We have actually just came back from our second session in November, and finished four brand new songs, that will be released as singles early 2019. We're excited to be releasing new music less than four months after our debut EP release, and can't wait for everyone to hear it.
Q: What else do we need to know about your music?
A: Follow us online for all things Major Moment. 2019 is already shaping up to be a busy year for us, we're starting it off with a performance at the NAMM Show in L.A. on January 23rd, a release of a music video, 4 new songs, 4 new lyric videos, more live shows, more studio time, we're unstoppable! Thank you all very much for supporting us!
