Q: You started playing professionally as a full time musician a couple of years ago. I’m sure there are people reading this right now who want to quit their day job and do the same thing. What was that transition like? Do you have any tips for musicians who want to attempt the same thing?
A: You have to have a support system! You need someone to believe in your art! You also have practice practice practice!!! Also you have to network starting at open mics! Cross pollinate with other musicians! Go to their shows! And you need to really want it!! Theres no halfway of doing it! Its all or none! Market your strengths!
Q: I felt the music had a inspirational vibe to it. How would you describe the songs on North Road?
A: The album comes from overcoming loss! I lost my father unexpectedly two months before my wedding! You need to find a way to deal with losing a family member! It never goes away! You can drink, do drugs - it won’t make it better! I just wrote about using music to bring a positive solution to overcome loss! Wanting it to say you can find strength to work through difficult times!!
Q: What are some the themes that run through North Road?
A: Again the themes are strength in believing in a positive notion instead of turning dark! Life is very grey in a lot of issues! Finding a balance between beliefs and other opinions is hard! Staying positive or neutral sometimes leaves others with nothing to counteract on! The album message stems from a lot of those kind of ideals!
Q: As a solo artist how do you approach writing songs that require a full band?
A: I picture all parts when writing! Always thinking of how the drums should kick! How the bass should groove!! Riffs for lead parts!! I never think this is just an acoustic song!!! On stage i hear those parts and it helps bring energy to a solo performance!!
Q: What are your live shows like?
A: Live is my strength for my own opinion of myself!! I really bring it as its the last time I will ever be playing live!! I feed off watching the people in the crowd during the song!!! It makes me want to play better!! Its hard to get people into just a guitar and no other instruments so i try to be as energetic as possible!!
Q: What else do we need to know about Luke Domozick?
A:. I love meeting new people from other states I play! Its an amazing feeling to have complete strangers come up to you and say they loved your set!! And then connect with them after the shows!! I love to cook!! It is another art form that involves a lot a detail! Love just walking my dog and telling dirty jokes to my 20-year -old son!! And taking care of my wife and family!
