Do you need more epic music in your life? If you need a constant flow of M83,
Sigur Rós, and Explosions In The Sky in your ears than you will want to check out the recent release Chronicle by Lights & Motion. The Swedish born Christoffer Franzén is the creative force behind the music who plays every instrument on the record. Chronicle is a sublime and beautiful effort that attempts to and succeeds at reaching epic heights. The intensity of the album is constant in that it is almost to overwhelming at times to take in its entirety in one session. The songs on Chronicle can often feel like a cathartic purge. I felt like I was letting go of negative feelings, looking towards the future and also in awe of the majesty of the universe as I listened to the album. |

Chronicle is a testament to the fact the not a single word needs to uttered in order to convey meaning and emotion. It often in my opinion feels more pure when there is no narrative or poetic lyrics for my brain to attach on to. When I listen to a song like "Glow" or "Reborn" I get to assign my own feelings to it. There is no narrative and nothing I have to figure. The sounds themselves on this album trigger very real emotions that are primal and innate yet sometimes forgotten and hard find within everyday life.
Chronicle is introspective but at the same time makes you feel alive. The waveforms leave the speakers, hit your ears and then resonate throughout your whole body. If you aren't convinced yet that Lights & Motion is the real deal I suggest taking a listen. I'm pretty sure you will be happy that you did. |
