Bay Area residents Greg Dale, Beth Gladding, Rick Kennan and Jay Crawford all play in various bands. However, recently they collaborated to create The Night Falls. The Night Falls is a hard rock, psychedelia indie project. Their music creates a haunting sound, especially on their dark, moody, hypnotic Colt album. 

Colt talks about love, fears, dreams and the majestic nature of life. The expertly composed album uses thought-provoking lyrics, backed with layered and complex sounds. Colt contains many captivating tracks, but we picked five tracks that mesmerized our ears.

"Four No Mi" uses the instruments to support the lyrics on the regular lines but they drive them on the choruses. The track challenges listeners to let go of caution and seek their passions. "The Nature of Things" deals with two ideas of nature: human nature and the environment. The song adds naturalistic sounds like wind chimes to create an airy vibe. The lyrics discuss the universal order of connectivity and the past. 

On "Spirals and Ringlets" Dale provides his best vocal performance. It shows the battle of wanting someone's heart but only getting their body. The accompanying sounds match those of battle marches. "Motion Pictures" interplays with films and memories. It has a steady, calm sound with a bit of ‘70s era music mystique. "January 15th" describes a personal perfect day, from wake to sleep and all the wonders in between. Its beats create an exhilarating, energetic journey.

The Night Falls really creates a dynamic, fully formed album. All the intricate pictures and parts are so expertly created that the album feels effortless. Colt impressively guides your attention from track to track. On a final note, the accompanying art helps fully tie in this album as a multi-layered multimedia experience.
