Toxic by Sarah Glassman is an album dedicated to grappling with the often confusing, emotional roller coaster that is the topic of love and the chemistry that lies wherein. The whole album has that feeling like Sarah Glassman and her band are outside of her past object of affection's window in the lawn with her keyboard and her guitarist at an ungodly hour declaring her feelings. You can envision that the person she is declaring these feelings toward isn't even interested in listening but it isn't for him/her to hear. It is for Glassman and her listeners to hear.

The person who the album is dedicated to has already moved on but Glassman is stuck behind with all of the feelings to be processed. We can all process with her from our own experiences. She goes through the stages of realizing the game feeling foolish, and letting whomever know that she sees what has been going on and she is over it.  Each song has an epic feeling sung from the bottom of her heart, a ballad to those that have hurt her.

Musically, the whole album is infused with epic guitar riffs that are reminiscent of grunge music-and Courtney Love style vocals that demand to be heard. Toxic sheds light on the darkness felt when lonely or unseen by a person we have strong feelings for.

The album starts with a song entitled"The Game." This song exemplifies the feeling of having strong emotions toward a person that is cold, distant and detached. Next up is "Just Want You"  which is covered in warm synths and electronics drums. She sings "I don’t know, but what I do Thin ice without warning And I fell right thru What can I do….I want you".

Toxic takes us through the story of Glassman's ability to move through the emotions of identifying the "Game "in the beginning that she has been a fool in and ending on the song "Let it Rain," which declares she will get over this person, and she calls the rain to wash away the pain. "Let it Rain" is an intense explosion of instrumentation that offers the listener an overall feeling of release. This piece brings many different sounds to her different emotions. The keyboard paired with the "in the pocket" drums, create a feeling that demands movement and healing to be initiated. 

Overall Toxic is a perfect album to mourn over an ex-lover and move forward.
