Debut EP by Piper Cox is a magical album filled with stunning melodic piano rhythms. Her voice has an almost natural echo to it. It sounds like the resonance of bones when they are hit, or if you were to take a fine tool and tap the tooth. It is hollow but chalky and profound. There is definitely a melancholy essence to the album that can be felt at the core. Your sadness is shook from itself with her incredibly gorgeous piano fingerings and intermittent violin.

The music is creative and renewing. It makes you feel reborn out of a cold dreary sadness into a momentary lapse of delight. I can see flickers of light beams with glittery golden sun drenched glitzes hitting the eyelids. There is some bird chirping too which really just sets the stage for a fluttering moment of complete and utter joy. This album often feels like one of those you listen to when trying to fall asleep or into a state of deep relaxation. 

There is nothing holding you back from feeling its deep rhythms and put you into its almost lava filled state of magma and joy. The song " Howling" also puts you into a state of peeling back layers of lost self to discover a piece of you that has been there all along. The howl and repetitive notion of "howling" keeps you feeling that darkness come out. This song is very reminiscent of Bjork. The way that Bjork brings forth emotions that we as women can feel but cannot quite describe. It is deep and cuts to the innermost piece of us. It is revealing and yet healing. There is something about the vulnerability of her lyrics that makes you feel like you can be you.

The song “Love” is another deep one. It features guitar rhythms and the unearthing of powerful nodes of existence. There is an uncanny resemblance to something Tori Amos would do. There is a strong piano and lyrics that again bring the depths of emotion to the surface.

All is unearthed and unveiled. "All we need is love" gives me feelings of both Bjork and John Lennon. I think there is a lot to be said here about understanding the heart. I really love and appreciate it. Overall I think the Debut EP is a hit that can harness and covet the most gentle of emotions. I appreciate her complete and utter ability to bring forth subtle sadnesses and transmute them into beauty. It is both powerful and gentle.
