Magnetfisch hails from Switzerland and gives us original Swiss electro pop that’s been conditioned since the ‘90s. The band has come together through two decades of changing hands through other music collectives until Magnetfisch emerged in 2001. The music within their latest release could be described as Kraftwerk meets TRST meets Todd Terje mixed with pop electro from the late ‘80s and early ‘90s. The track entitled “must be Schnetzer” is one that has a lot of gusto to it. Percussion is really strong throughout the entire track and acts as a heavy anchor to the wavering and myriad effects and instruments laden across the fabric of this song. Over time, the song becomes a quilt and you’re whisked away to a dreamy and mysterious world beneath it. “Lennitz” is a more upbeat track and has a carefree vibe to it. It makes me want to get up and dance around a bit weirdly; the song is definitely quirky but in a sophisticated way. Again the drums keep the beat and the high-pitched guitar is really defining of this edgy yet welcoming ballad of electro synths and percussion. You can really enjoy the international feel of the electro within this track; there is something about the style that makes you instantly feel the “Euro” vibes; they are authentic and anyone listening can really pick up on them. Every track on Leider Maximo is bolted down by some seriously charged drum and percussion effects. The collection of songs is incredibly upbeat and each has its own realm to relinquish upon the listeners consciousness regardless of the fact that every single song is void of vocals or vocal clips. There are countless effects in between the tracks and there is much skill shown in the production and mixing of the album. This is a great listening album for anyone interested in electro pop or experimental electro psych rock.
