Back in July I reviewed Silent Patch by Kyri aka Kyri Pitrakkos. The EP showcases an exceptional songwriter who didn’t need much more than a guitar and his vocals to create a captivating tune. My only issue was the recording quality, which I thought could have been better. On his release Inhuman​(​e) those issues are rectified. 

Although Inhuman​(​e) is minimal when it comes to instrumentation Pitrakkos is still able to deliver the goods with an aesthetically pleasing voice and engaging lyrics. The first song “Silent Patch” is one of the highlights. It contains cascading guitars and vocal harmonies, which are warm and inviting on the chorus. He sings, “And like a child, scream for a while. Now he's sharp as style, yet pro denial. And like a child, scream for a while. Now he's sharp as style, yet he is.”

Some of the songs such as the title track feel fleshed out between the bongos, guitars and vocals and has a Rusted Root vibe at times. The lyrics on “Inhuman(e)” feel borderline religious. He sings, “Oh we got your, got your got your got your, scare tissue man. And when you wrap your arms around me i believing in this hope. Come on and tell me babe, are we free to still have.. still have. Won't you wrap your arms around me I'm in need of this hope.” The song comes to a crescendo when he overlaps vocal parts. 

“Push Around” feels a little bit more loose with some levity. The jazzy guitar part is good fun while Pitrakkos sings dynamic vocal parts, which are the anchor of the song. “$$$” as you may have guessed is about money. It’s a darker song amongst the batch. 

I have to admit I preferred his singing style on “Deceive” which felt a little more natural and soft. As the album continues there are a number of other highlight including “Worm” and “Firelight.” The seven-minute-plus song “Wish” is arguably the best track. I thought the guitar parts were especially creative on this song. 

Inhuman​(​e) is unequivocally a step up from Silent Patch. The step up in production is noticeable and let’s the potential of Pitrakkos shine.
