Keren Brenner’s self-titled Keren Brenner is an empowering female album that begs to be heard. Not background music. Her voice is innocent yet strong. You can really feel her demand for presence in her first song "About Me." The guitar is fantastical. Her voice sounds dreamy and early 2000's teenage movie soundtrack-esque with her sixpence non-the richer vibe. "Why should you care about me" begs that same question we all had as teenagers; does he/ she love me or love me not? She's also living out the fantasy for all of us ladies as being a solid rocker chick as she shreds her guitar with cherry red lipstick.

Following this song is "Better Days" filling the listeners with heartstring pulling guitar riffs that are magical and nostalgic. Soft background vocal chants breaking open into a vulnerable eye closing soft shout of expression, the song is almost like a female version of Nine Inch Nails. Subtle and seductive, mysterious and cunning, the album is motivated by insecurity and emptiness and in turn creates a total piece that keeps our hearts company and fills us with a mashed potato and gravy like comfort. 

The song "Prozac" further exemplifies dealing with the vast void or hole in the human experience with a quick brush of it under a rug or perhaps temporary suppression. This music is that antidote. The album is definitely an incredible pain reliever from modern day clusters of emotion and emptiness.

It does the listener justice by being just punk or hard enough to give it an edge that can shave the corners off the hardest of observers, while simultaneously filling the cup that has been rounded out in the soul with crisp clear refreshing hydration.

Overall, I would say the album is on its way to becoming only more and more in tune to the total intention that is behind it. It is deep and profound, and yet is slightly shy. I could see her moving more and more into her power without hesitancy as she continues to create music. This jump off point however is unique and listener friendly. Cannot wait to hear more!
