Joe Ferretti (Vocals) Chris Marchesseault  (Guitar/Vocals) Pierce Johnston (Bass) and Dylan Rosser (Drums) are Keep it Quiet. The band released a three song self titled EP which can go under the genre of pop punk.

Their EP is a DIY effort that sounds great from an aesthetic perspective. It’s really not that surprising considering they are all studio engineers. I always thought pop-punk wasn’t a genre that could get away with lo-fi and this is just more proof of that. The guitars have to sound huge and drums need to hit hard. Luckily, the songs on Keep It Quiet can be felt not just heard because of the production and recording quality.

As far as the music goes it doesn’t contain too many surprises from the genre but is certainly well written and catchy. The first song “So Many Reasons” biggest surprise comes in the first couple of seconds which is a singular ethereal sounding synth. After that the band goes into pop-punk mode. Ferretti has a standard, nasally voice that seems to be the norm for this style of music. He sounds good and enjoyed his singing style. The instrumental parts were inventive and effective. I was impressed by their technical abilities but the guitar parts were constantly catching my ear.

“Goodbye” is another song that starts off with an off-kilter beginning which revolves around some sort of arpeggiated synth. Around the forty second mark the band starts to rock. The guitars cut through like jagged knives and the drumming propels the song. It’s a catchy tune and Ferretti delivers a dynamic performance.

They close with “What You're Made Of” which continues to solidify the band's signature sound. It’s the most explosive out of the three songs and arguably the most commercially viable.

Keep it Quiet aren’t breaking the mold but for fans of pop-punk this band is a no brainer. Recommended. ​
