George Reeves, Lee Ladensack, James Poe, David Hunter, and Steven Johannessen are the members of Hurricane Creek Band. The band has been performing together for over nineteen years and just recently released an eleven song album entitled Time and Time Again.
After spending time with the album I felt like the songs were the type that could work in almost any setting. Take for instance “Fatal Attraction” which is a blues/rock song that would sound great on a Friday night or a song you would want to hear in the middle of a mundane work day. Another song that works like that is “Hey Little Darlin'” which sounds like it could be a b-side for The Steve MIller Band. He sings “Do ya wanna walk in the moonlight/take a blanket and lay out under the stars would you rather dance until midnight or stay at home and tango in the dark". One of the highlights “Back to the Bottom” revolves around classic songwriting. The vocal lines are memorable, heartfelt and get stuck in your head. The band can also strip things down and pull it off. Take for instance “The One” which revolves not much more than an acoustic guitar and vocals. On the other end of the spectrum and fun songs which bring levity such as “Maha did A Puja” which is quite delightfull. I loved the horns and lyrics on this one. The band keeps going with strong songs such as danceable and upbeat “By This Time Tomorrow” and the rocking closer “That’s What I Get”. The lyrics are straightforward and will resonate with anyone who is on “That’s What I Get”. He sings “I get excited when you hold me close and kiss me the way you do Your heart’s inviting' me to boldly go To heaven and back with you” I can’t say that Time and Time Again brings much new to the table that hasn’t been done before but the band certainly has done their homework. I can unequivocally say that if you are into bands like Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Eagles, The Steve Miller Band and other like minded bands this will be right up your alley.
