A four-piece new-age folk band from Pennsylvania is here to Destroy It Up. This is the band’s debut EP and the music within it can be described as something like upbeat folk or rock and roll Americana music. It maintains a sophisticated air as there are piano riffs laid throughout the entire album and this adds sweet notes of uplifting peace and a feeling of grounding and centering that makes this album a unique listen. Another unique aspect of this album is its great usage of lyrics, every song has a different story to tell and each is filled with passion and undying ingenuity. The opening song titled “Easy Is The New Hard” is an upbeat song and the lyrics embody an optimistic poem; “…cheer up you sad bastard, hardly any reason to suffer… Is life that hard? I'm not so sure, the beat may be dirty, but the song is pure.” The entire song is filled with piano melodies and uplifting yet simple guitar chords. Toward the end the song swells to a crescendo of folk-dance music that nicely ties the ends together before the next track begins. The second song is very much different in tone. Entitled “I Don’t Think We Can Be Friends Anymore,” the song touches on a sensitive topic of ending a relationship yet it still manages to offer an uplifting rather than negative take on the situation. Again the lyrics are very descriptive; “I thought you were truth but you just gave me the blues and I don't think we can be friends anymore.” “Home” is perhaps the most poetic and metaphorical song on the album and really the song seems to be a poem transformed into a beautiful melodic song. The repetition of “I’ll find my way home again,” is so beautiful and becomes so catchy and before you know it, you are lulled into a content trance as the music slowly and soothingly washes over you. This album is a beautiful listen for anyone interested in folk or simple alternative rock music. Sound quality is great and this is a great album to take your mind off of the world and get lost in lyrics and uplifting instruments.
