Call Security is a five-piece alternative rock group from Boston who recently released their self-titled EP To Whom It May Concern,. Their music veers towards palatable commercially viable rock akin to bands likes The Killers, Phoenix and Franz Ferdinand but also contains an optimistic, visceral explosion not unlike that of Mumford and Sons.

After spending some time with To Whom It May Concern, it is hard not to get the sense that the band is trying really hard to appeal to as many as people as possible. The band has done their homework when it comes to making radio friendly, easy to embrace rock songs that you can picture being sung by a large amount of people at a concert. 

Truth be told Call Security isn’t the first and they sure aren’t the last to bark up this brand of rock that has seeped its way into the mainstream in the last couple of years. And perhaps that's the thing that will ultimately hold back Call Security from making an impact in a tremendously over saturated market with bands who are just as talented as they are. The fact is that there is more music than ever being made and is bursting from the seams with talent. If you don’t have something defining and strikingly unique to people upon first listen it will be a hard road uphill to get traction.

The songs on To Whom It May Concern are well written and delivered but also feel mighty familiar to more than a handful of artists that are in the limelight right now or recently were. The fact that the band was able to accomplish what they have is impressive but I wonder what they could be capable of if they experiment out of their safety zone and try and circumvent some of the tropes they indulge. 

From the pictures I saw on their Facebook page the band might not even be the legal drinking age. This is good news for the band because it still gives them plenty of time to continue to explore and grow into their skin. The band has plenty of talent, which is obvious. If they are the type of band that is able to rise to the occasion and captivate the collective conscious is yet to be determined.
