Alice Favaro writes from a place where intimacy and scale are not opposites. On A Cielo Aperto, the Treviso singer-songwriter works with a palette of synths, drum machines, sampled textures, and live instrumentation, but the EP never gets swallowed by production. The focus remains on her voice, which often sits close to the listener, sometimes barely above a whisper, before the arrangements open into something wider and more dramatic. That contrast gives the record its shape.

Favaro has been active in the Italian pop singer-songwriter world since 2019, and A Cielo Aperto presents her work with a clear sense of development. Her writing connects the Italian cantautore tradition to contemporary electronic pop without forcing the combination. The songs are direct and introspective, built around emotional states that are personal but still accessible. Her continued collaboration with producer Dario Jacque, along with the musicians who have helped form her live sound, gives the EP a unified identity. After the 2025 singles “Tra le stelle” and “Occhi aperti,” created with Jacque’s artistic direction and production alongside Urban49, this new independent phase sounds measured, focused, and ready to expand.

“Clessidra” opens the EP in a softer register. Favaro sings with a hushed delivery, almost like she is letting the song form in real time, and the arrangement gradually fills out around her. The dynamic range is one of the record’s strengths, especially in the way quiet passages make the larger sections hit harder. That whispered quality returns throughout the EP, giving the songs a sense of closeness even when the instrumentation grows.

“Coprifuoco” brings in more rock pressure while still keeping the pop and world music elements in view. It reminded me of Shakira in the way rhythm, melody, and drama all seem to move together without losing directness. “Dammi Tutto” carries a more empowered tone, with a stronger forward motion and a vocal performance that sounds less fragile than determined. “Lo sai, vero?” returns to the EP’s softer side, but it also reaches for bigger emotional peaks. “Iside” closes the record on one of its catchier moments, giving A Cielo Aperto a final lift without breaking from its core mood.

​The EP works best when Favaro balances restraint with release. Its quietest moments are often as important as its grander ones, and that tension gives the project its character. A Cielo Aperto presents an artist refining her language while keeping the emotional center of the songs intact.
