Basement Sound Interview
Q: Can you talk about your history of the band?
A: Basement Sound was/is a mixture of friends who’ve played in various projects and various genres over the years. We pride ourselves on being serious but not technically taking ourselves TOO seriously. First and foremost we want to have fun with what we are doing and write tunes that people can relate to.
Q: Can you talk about what some of those themes are on your release Good Job Some Of You!?
A: There is a lot of reflection on who we were as people in the past and things we’ve done to people in the past and also talk of being better and/or taking ownership. Also lots of being blubbering babies thinking about stuff after a few too many beers or whiskey pulls. All in all, it covers the gamut of just being alive, living life and moving forward.
Q: What is the creative process like?
A: For most part, a few guys write a melody or lyrics and bring it to the table and then we build up songs on the fly. That process has always seemed to work for us and lately it’s become even easier/more streamlined. It’s really inspiring to play with guys who want to build up a project and challenge others to be better.

Q: The band has been through some recent changes, Can you talk about that?
A: A few of the guys have been playing music for a lot of years and recently decided that they wanted to take things a bit less seriously (less practicing, fewer shows, etc) which is 100% okay on their part, as we get older priorities can change or even interest can wain...nothing but love for our friends! We pulled in our great friend Kamp (Skin of Our Teeth, Ex - ICU) to beat on drums and our resident Respiratory Therapist Zach to play guitar better than the rest of us.
Q: You are writing for a new split EP with Loss Leader. How is that going?
A: I feel like we are writing our best music right now and I hope we do right by the guys in Loss Leader by not dropping turds on our half of the release. Honestly, I feel better than I have in any other band situation in my past...I’m truly inspired as of late.
Q: What else should we know about your music?
A: Come out to a show or buy a release and know that you’re going to hear some honest songs from a group of dudes that may or may not have had too much whiskey to drink. We aim to make it fun or at least slightly awkward.
